Lab Services

Hours of Operation

Lab Services are provided 24 hours per day, for inpatient and emergency patients. Outpatient services are provided in the laboratory 7:00 am-5:30 pm. All patients scheduled for laboratory services should register through the hospital's Outpatient Services area located immediately inside the front entrance of the hospital.

Lab Services

Services provided by the Lab include:

  • Anatomic pathology: The science of diagnosing diseases based on the appearance or tissues.
  • Autopsy: An examination and dissection (analysis) of a dead body to determine cause of death or the changes produced by disease.

    Chemistry and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring: The measurement of medication levels in the blood.

  • Clinical Microscopy
  • Coagulation
  • Cytology: The examination of individual cells and small clusters of cells, and may be used for the diagnosis and screening of diseases.
  • Hematology: The study of blood and blood-producing organs.
  • Microbiology: The study of bacteria and their effects on humans.
  • Serology (Diagnostic Immunology): A blood test to detect the presence of antibodies (a protein made by the body as a defense against unfamiliar material that enters the body) against a bacteria or germ.
  • Transfusion Medicine: The transfusion of blood and blood parts, given to restore lost blood and to improve the ability of the blood to deliver oxygen to the body's tissues.
  • Urinalysis: Analysis of urine, used to aid in the diagnosis of disease or to detect the presence of a specific substance, such as a drug.
  • Virology: The study of viruses and viral diseases.
