LewisGale Hospital at Pulaski Honors Employees For Nearly 600 Years of Combined Service

Pulaski, Virginia, November 29, 2010 – LewisGale Hospital at Pulaski recently held an awards ceremony to honor 44 of its staff members for their hard work, dedication, and years of service.

Recipients of the 2010 Employee Service Awards represented almost all of the hospital's departments and services, and combined, have served the hospital and its patients for 580 years. Each of the employees had reached an important milestone in their years of service.

“I thank you for the vital role you play in making LewisGale Hospital at Pulaski an excellent place for patient care, a vital part of the community, and a great place to work,” said Mark Nichols, CEO, LewisGale Hospital at Pulaski, in his ceremony remarks.  “You are constantly complimented in the community for your outstanding friendliness, and genuine compassion.”

Nichols also credited the employees for helping the hospital attain significant quality achievements. For the second straight year, Anthem has ranked LewisGale Hospital at Pulaski as one of the top ten hospitals in Virginia for high–quality care and patient outcomes.  The government also places it in the top 10 percent of hospitals nationwide for heart, pneumonia and surgical care.

Honorees included:

  • 30 years – Kathy Cooley, Debbie Dworschak, and Becky Woodyard
  • 20 years – Joyce Parsons and Linda Akers
  • 15 years – Sheila Eversole, Joy Gilman, Carolyn Kurgan, Debra Lillycrop, Anita Osburn, Judy Weatherington, and Robyn Widelo
  • 10 years – Karen Barnette, Renee Binns, Annette Chewing, Dawn Coble, Kelly Cole, Glennis Cregger, Darlene Edwards, Clayton Jackson, Teresa Kemp, Donna Nelson, Susie Price, Heather Walls, and Mona Willis
